Trisha has worked for the National Health Service for 40 years as a Nurse, Midwife, Health Visitor and for the past 12years as a Consultant Nurse and Counsellor working with children and their families affected by Cleft Lip & Palate and other genetic conditions. Her experience working in both Northern Canada and Thailand has contributed to her understanding of the social and cultural diversity, which may influence families and people living and working together. She is comfortable working with all professional and managerial personnel and the general population, who find themselves in highly charged situations. Her approach combines friendliness with professionalism. She has been a volunteer with Women’s Aid for the past 31years, primarily as a counsellor and latterly as a supervisor of counselling students and trained counselors undertaking placements or working with the organization. In her role as a senior nurse she has managed disputes within the work place and clinical setting where her calm but determined approach has resolved emotional situations affecting the care of patients and their relatives.

Trisha is a registered nurse, midwife and health visitor and gained an MSc from Manchester University. She is a qualified clinical counsellor and has a PGC in clinical supervision. She has extensive experience in the voluntary sector, has been chairperson of a local Women’s Aid refuge, is an advisor to Changing Faces and was the first nurse to become chairperson of the Craniofacial Society of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. She was given an honorary membership of the society in 2012. She was awarded an MBE for her contribution to the development of care of children and their families affected by cleft lip & palate.

Trisha qualified as an accredited mediator through the London School of Mediation.
